Almost happy birthday to me!
In a few hours, it will be my birthday. I used to wish people happy birthday by saying, “May this be an average year. Better than the year before and not as good as the following year.” And it’s always a good way to wish a happy birthday. But more importantly, in the last few years, I’ve taken an opportunity to use my birthday as a day of reflection. It’s not the only day of reflection, but it’s one of them. I don’t think we’re getting close to having too many of those, so I’m not worried. And this year, it’s going to be a reflection day while hiking.
As you might remember, as I talked about it before, there are really interesting results showing that when we walk, we become more creative. We become more creative for the period that we walk and even a little bit after that. So, I’m planning to walk, hopefully be creative, and contemplate life. Where am I? Where are we? Where do I want to head? I’m not sure if I’ll come to any conclusions, but at least that’s how I am going to enjoy spending my day. And I’m going to hike with my best friend from seventh grade. And that’s another wonderful part. Because hiking alone is one thing, and I’ve done that from time to time. But hiking with somebody and having a way to share reflections, ask questions, ponder, and get feedback is fantastic.
So, happy birthday to me. May this be an average year. Better than the year we’ve had, but not as good as the following one. And may the day reflecting while hiking be creative, useful, and thoughtful with the extra help from Ron. And may this lead me to a wonderful next year. So, when you get your chance to having a day of reflection, I recommend this recipe of hiking for the for the whole day with a very good friend.
Bye for now.
